el*a*kwents
It is all the culmination of a personal dilemma stemming from his youth; was it going to be conformity within the corporate world for material gains or noncompliance and art, accumulating spiritual merit and harmony between the tangible and intangible? Before Hip Hop struck El, it was a more-or-less unconscious decision to participate in the homogeneous culture of Americanism; it was about sports, movies, television, school, and girls. At the age of 18, El*A*Kwents began reflecting back on his experiences of childhood realizing that adults did not have answers for his probing questions. He now understood that if he wanted to find the answers to his questions, he had to set out to rediscover self-evident truths through experience. This was the beginning of a journey of a man who saw desolation in the faces of his peers--adults, children, friends, family and strangers alike. It was a path folded inward toward the soul-of-man and away from the barren outer world of so-called civil society. Articulating thoughts, forming lyrics, and cooking up sounds of banging drums and eclectic instruments, was just what the doctor ordered.

PHILOSOPHY COLE
Warpath uses actual events that he has experienced, escaped or had to face and somehow rise up from the ashes. These instances have helped to sculpt his style. A vivid storyteller and witty lyricist best describe Path.
“I think people in general are lost in things unworthy of time. I write about worthwhile things. Real life struggles, real life lessons, reality. I also believe that it’s important to have a meaning, a reason, a main thought, point or goal if you’re an artist. I know that TOO MANY people are just making songs and for WHAT? I don’t know, I doubt they even know. The bottom line is, I’m here to make moving music. Something you can feel.”-Philosophy Cole

NEGUS Johwell
A few years after Johwell left his hometown, his childhood friend was fatally stabbed, which wholly changed Johwell’s take on life and its purpose. He then made the decision to reconnect with his faith, and met his brother Benchoumy on that journey. One day, Benchoumy invited Johwell to join him during a studio recording session. On that occasion, Johwell recorded an entire verse and hook without laying anything on paper, thereby acknowledging a new talent and passion.
As time went by, Johwell slowly moved away from his spiritual convictions and sought additional ways to bring meaning into his life. On November 6, 2006, enlightenment came with the discovery of the word, Negus: the direct translation for “King” in the Amharic Ethiopian language. Inspiration took over, and Johwell tatooed “Negus” on his chest that very same day. Subsequently, Benchoumy and Jowhell decided to start the “NegusWorld movement” on January 1, 2007; the positive response from people around the world was almost immediate.

abu nurah
Abu Nurah is an emcee with something to say, in the tradition of the greats like Chuck D and KRS ONE--in short, one of those that grabs the mic with a purpose. He came up in Los Angeles' notorious Pico-Union neighborhood. From an early age, he's had a strong connection to hip hop culture, twice winning his school's annual break-dancing competition. In the mid-eighties, he began to shift his focus to writing rhymes. After high school, Abu Nurah went on to study at Harvard, earning a piece of paper that says 'My momma didn't raise no dummy.' His debut album, a mixtape titled Don't be a Citizen is a wakeup call as well as a call to arms. Through this seminal work, Abu Nurah promotes a revolution of thought, urging listeners to stop thinking like 'citizens' who don't question what they're told. Indeed, injustices do not just arise from the words of corrupt leaders; rather they are enabled by armies of citizens who directly or indirectly assist the rulers by playing their various roles. Citizens see the world as 'Us' versus 'Them', while the rest of of us shun nationalism and embrace ideals of justice and human rights for all. What's more, citizens have been programmed to believe that we live in a real democracy and that corporate and special interest lobbies are a healthy sign. They praise our goverment as the world's best democracy, blind to the fact we live in the heart of the beast.

Amber Hasan
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. The greatest gift I inherited from father was the love of words and writing. To me writing is sacred; it makes me feel spiritually whole and allows me to feel as if I am fulfilling one my purposes in life. In addition to being a writer, I am a mother, actor, hip-hop artist and community activist. I like to keep my writing diverse. I try not to stick to one style or subject, but I always try to give you common sense, real life, and down to earth wisdom. I feel like I am leaving part of myself on the pages and through my performances, because I write about my life. My writing is in many ways an autobiography. I share my thoughts, loves, fears, successes, failures, and insecurities openly and without shame. For me writing is my therapy. I gave birth to collection of poetry titled "Drowning in my own spit" in 2005 soon to be re-released.

I mean these guy’s are my friends! And them being extremely good at their respective crafts is a bonus!” The young Chicagoan describes his personal relations and music related ones as “completely organic and Non-artificial”. “I always keep it real and from the heart”, says Mr. Merk, as he hops out of the vocal booth, like Clark Kent turned superman, who’s sole mission statement is to spread his message of social awareness via “two turn tables and a microphone”.

brother amir
Born in San Francisco and raised in the crime-riddled streets of East Oakland by a single mother, Amir started writing poetry in elementary school. Winning first place in a school competition was just one sign that he was meant to use the word as a vehicle for change. When his mother passed away in 1997, Brother Amir traveled to southern California to live with his father, where he’d start battle rapping at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Here, he would further sharpen his skills as a wordsmith and and add the moniker “emcee” to his artistic ledger.
infinito 2017 (marcellous lovelace)
Born October 26, in Chicago, Marcellous Lamont Lovelace first decided he wanted to make music his career when he was just 13 years old. He teamed up with his cousin Dariel, and the two spent hours in their basements recording crude beats and rhymes on their boomboxes. When he and his mother moved to Kentucky, Lovelace found solace in rapping, something that also kept him going after Dariel's untimely death in 1994. Following that event, Lovelace moved to Tennessee and bought his first professional equipment and began recording. He enrolled in the Memphis College of Art, where he studied painting, also performing regularly at local open hip-hop mike nights. It was at one of these that he met Mr. Skurge; the two connected instantly and decided to work together, calling themselves the Unorthodox Poets Society (and it was Skurge who then gave Lovelace the name Infinito).
annakin slayd
It has been said that before an artist can achieve global success he must conquer where he’s from first. Well, after having his newest release “Rock the Sweater” become another Canadian viral sensation, adding to a slew of videos that have amassed over 3.5 million views, no one represents Montreal and Canada better than Annakin Slayd. Next up? The world. Since his debut single in 2005, Annakin has built a fast growing stable of dedicated fans he calls his “STALWARTS”, lured in by poetic and cinematic reflections on the state of Hip Hop, provocative political and social commentary, throwback pulse pounding beats, melodies that consistently raise hairs and un-hiphop like musicianship that meld his original style, like a merging of Macklemore & Linkin Park.

VANGO ONER
BENNCHOUMY
BenchoumY was born (Elien, Ben’choumy on October 20th) in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti in the slums of Carrefour or Kafou. His mother, Marie E., a former school teacher in Carrefour, hard working tailoress, a devout protestant bible teacher, and choir director. His father, Anthony Elien also know as Bob “The immediate tailor”, a well respected tailor in Haiti, a self employed businessman since the age of 14, a healer and voodoo (vodun) practitioner. His grandmother known as “Madan Montas” to the kafou mass, was the top chef of her famous Carrefour base min-restaurant; where young BenchoumY watched and learned how to feed and serve a very unpredictable and known to be dangerous KAFOU public everyday; (especially the ‘kamyonet’ taxi drivers, students, teachers, mechanics, local business owners, church goers, politicians, manifestation ‘rara’ attendees, police officers, athletes, the homeless, poor, stay at home moms and dads, the street pets, dogs in particular, etc…). He attended Notre Dame de L’assumption in Carrefour, a school located right across the town’s cemetery where he also played lots of soccer. At the tender age of 11, his father took him to the mountains of DEGAN to shield the young soon to be master of ceremony away from political warfare happening in the city. There, on a plantain tree leaf, he wrote his very first fully constructed song. He simply could not find paper. Three years later when he turned 14, he was taken to the United States of America in Brooklyn, NY by his mother. After graduating High School, he got his degree in CIS and also played 2 full seasons of varsity 2nd division college soccer while attending the Technical University. He has become a living and breathing piece of art since.

SHEEZ KING
I'm an audio engineer who started out as a self-taught beat maker for local artist in Fort Worth, Texas back in 2005. As a child growing up in Cleveland, Texas, I always had a passion for writing and it carried on into adulthood. In the Turn Up, Twerk, and Trap Music Era, I decided to make music about the one thing no one seems to talk about anymore and what I feel I know best.... Love.
